The four dogs in my mom’s house right now.
Using a learner’s permit to get into a bar will get you judged in a major way. I mean if I were going to make a fake ID, wouldn’t I at least make myself a fully licensed driver?
Ugh. Hungover. Too much wine/sangria. Hangover + jet lag is just no.
I’ve been here since Tuesday but I just turned on my computer for the first time. In the meantime lots of things have happened, like I have gone to Whole Foods and Target, waited 4 hours at the DMV to get my learner’s permit, eaten 2 veggie burgers and a variety of kettle chips, survived a tornado, [redacted], eaten delicious cheese, drunk good wine, and watched a variety of horrifically awesome tv shows.
I’m finally over my jet lag. So is Gummi. In case you were wondering, dogs get worse jet lag than humans do. I can only imagine having a baby with jet lag. After the 24 hour trip in which he was stuck in a kennel and we changed countries 3 times, he was shaking and foaming at the mouth in shock. I hope I never have to do that to him again. However, he’s finally adjusted and is doing great ^_^ He loves the huge backyard and he especially loves my sister’s pug, who does not return the affection…
I love America! Let the repatriation begin!
This morning the movers were scheduled to come at 8am. They finally showed up an hour late, when I was supposed to be leaving to run all my last minute errands. So, from the get-go, I’m annoyed because they’ve made me wait around for an hour. They loaded up the truck in about 5 minutes; it was only the bed, kitchen table, and a couple of chairs, all the furniture that belongs to my school.
Then, they stood around for 45 minutes like idiots trying to figure out where the stuff was supposed to be going even though it had all been arranged already. Obviously. Who goes to pick up a bunch of stuff and then has no idea where it’s going? That’s their job!
Finally I figured out that they could not wrap their heads around the fact that the furniture was going to my school, for the new teacher, and I was going to America, without the furniture. It wasn’t a language barrier, because our landlady was there, and about 3 different bi-lingual people on the phone at various stages. Finally, my realtor gets on the phone and he is extremely confused. I don’t even know why they called him, but I explained the situation to him and he told me just to give them my supervisor’s number and let them handle it, which is what I’d been trying to do all along. So I smile and nod through the phone, hang up, and give the moving guy my supervisor’s number. He looks at it, looks confused, and then starts to write it down. That’s when I noticed that he already had her number written HUGE across the top of the page. OMG. I stopped him and pointed and he did not even realize it was the same number. The two identical numbers were right next to each other! I almost laughed except I’d been standing outside in the cold in my pajamas and he was making me late so I didn’t.
I felt like I was in a 3 Stooges episode. I will not miss this.
It’s 7pm and I’m still so hungover. Ugh. However, last night was totally worth it. Our going away party was awesome and I had forgotten how a night of heavy drinking can really make all my worries disappear. ^^ Spent the day lying around and finally started packing around 3pm. Got a lot done, surprisingly. Can’t believe that in 36 hours I will be on my way home.
Tonight I’m taking S out for an early birthday dinner @ Zelen. Her actual birthday is this week when I’m in the states and she’s still here finishing up work, so we’re celebrating tonight. I don’t know how much more celebrating my liver can handle, but I’m very excited about the Bulgarian food.
A dude just picked up our wardrobes, so now our bedroom is practically empty and extremely gigantic. The dresser is getting picked up later today so I’m officially already living out of a suitcase. We’ve reached the stage where it is acceptable to stop cooking and eat out for every meal because the apartment is such a shambles. Not at all relaxing to have a meal in so I’d rather spend 40,000 on a 4 cheese pizza, or something. Our apartment is full of boxes and the only “functioning” furniture left out of all 3 rooms is the bed and kitchen table. Luckily I’ve got those until Monday morning when the absolutely last moving guy comes.
Also the Hello Kitty coffee pot is gone so I’m drinking French Press coffee which I haven’t made in almost a year; I think I’ve got the proportions wrong, it’s not strong enough.
This morning I’ve got to take Gummi to the airport quarantine office to get the rest of his paperwork for the flight. Nothing I like more than going to the airport 4 days before I’m actually leaving. Oh well. I’m going to try out the new airport express train from Seoul Station.
After 2~3 years in Korea, we're headed to Canada. But first, 2 months in S.E. Asia, 1 month in the States, and a massive road trip.
We are 1 American (K), 1 Canadian (S), and 1 Boston Terrier (Gummi).
